DRAFT 309 Assessment

Every five years, the American Samoa Coastal Management Program (ASCMP) is required to submit an “Assessment and Strategy for Program Enhancements” to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).  As part of this document, we are allowed to request grant funds for initiatives that will allow us to serve the people of the Territory in new and better ways.

ASCMP delivered a draft version of our Assessment and Strategy, with initiatives proposed for Fiscal Years 2016-2020.  The draft is available for public comment here.

Our specific proposal regarding new ASCMP involvement in coastal hazards mitigation can be found on pages 64-72 and our proposal for a study to examine the feasibility of a wetlands monitoring program in American Samoa is on pages 73-79.

Please email all comments to sandra.lutu@doc.as no later than 4:00pm Monday, June 29, 2015

Thank you in advance for your help in improving our draft Assessment and Strategy for Coastal Management Program Enhancements.
